Short History

The Australian Labradoodle is well respected for its superior temperament as a therapy and service dog, and this special blending of breeds was founded on this key characteristic, in Australia. Multiple generations ago, an Australian guide dog program tried to produce an allergy and family friendly, service dog, on a consistent basis. It was premised that crossing only the Labrador and Poodle breeds was limiting, and through careful selection successfully infused a few other breeds; Irish Water Spaniel, Curly Coated Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, and American Cocker Spaniel. Angela Cunningham of Tegan Park (Australia) and Beverly Manors of Rutland Manor (Australia) are the co-founders of the 'Australian Labradoodle'. Together they developed a wonderful cross that has grown in popularity and is loved and respected around the world.
